Welcome to the Summer.

Every year, on the 16th of July, the coastal villages of Galicia are swept up in an atmosphere of religious devotion and pagan festivity, as they hold processions and festivals to celebrate their bond with the Virgin of El Carmen, the patron saint and guardian of all seafarers.

Misa · Procesión · Romería · Verbena

Local inhabitants wear their Sunday best to enjoy an event midway between an initiation and a ritual. The holy mass, procession, and daytime festivities are truly significant moments. Traditional dishes bring friends and families together as they honour the element that most clearly defines the Galician people: the sea.

D-due dedicates its Summer 2019 to the sea, incorporating one of its most outstanding signs of identity, the Virgin of El Carmen. We have chosen the town of Rianxo as our source of inspiration.

Our atelier and studio are located in this seaside town, whose daily life has suffused us with many of the values of which we feel so proud.

Divided into four ‘families,’ Misa, Procesión, Romería and Verbena, D-due has focused on capturing the very essence of a culture as ancient and mysterious as the heroes of the sea. These origins and this essence are the cornerstones of our work, which we celebrate this season with “Festival Day”.
